| Wine and Cider Barrels
These hand made barrels come complete with wooden taps, cradles and bungs. Available in chestnut or oak they are ideal for the home wine maker or for storing larger quantities of wine.
Our barrels are professionally handcrafted for the European wine industry and should not be confused with poor quality imitation wine barrels that are being imported by some traders of late.
Wine matured in young oak barrels will develop a sweet vanilla character. As the oak matures, the influence on the wine will alter and produce a nuttier, buttery flavour. Wine stored in chestnut barrels tends to develop a more subtle, sweet flavour and for the first two years of use will slightly colour white wine, resulting in a delicate rosé tone.
